Fluids are the blood of your car! Your car is trying to do its job. If you want to help it last longer and not break down, consider the following ideas.
While most people realize the importance of engine oil changes, we often find people have a limited perspective of fluid maintenance beyond that. There are 7 fluids in your car and they all need attention ideally ’cause Cars need love too!
Print this out and counsel with a REASONED Mechanic to start your car love plan? If you don’t know a reasoned mechanic, ask us for a recommendation?
Ask them to rate the condition of your SEVEN fluid areas, note their suggestions today and when they recommend you next give attention to an area, then start an easy next needed km marker page. You can make a 1 page plan in 5 minutes, right? Take the time! Btw…pre owned cars are usually off track according to the onboard computers and/or service dates are unknown.
Common Patterns, learn your car’s recommended needs from your car manual or your Mechanic.
Common patterns might be….
- Engine oil. 4-5000 km with regular oil, 7-8000 kms with synthetic. keep it blond.
- Transmission. 80 km. Keep it red.
- Transfer cases and differentials, (if you have a 4x or AWD). Every 80-120 Km.
- Brake fluid. Every 2-3 years.
- Power Steering fluid. Watch levels and change when dirty.
- Coolant. Watch reservoir level, never mix different colored anti freeze and test temperature rating levels every 1 or 2 years for hot and cold capabilities. Not doing this could cause corrosion and you $1000!
Window washing fluid. Keep an eye on the level. Switch between summer and winter versions and don’t let it freeze in your system!
Whoever you choose to look after your oil changes can be asked to check Brake and power steering fluid every time, maybe transmission (depending on the ca), and coolant
